Scary Biscuits

I got up nice and fresh this morning all ready to be motivated, and then I heard someone at the door. It was one of my flatmates coming back from visiting back home, and there in an instant goes a solid chance of me getting any work done today.
 
Oh well, better luck tomorrow.

I just thought I would blog about that fact I have actually found at least a small part of my motivation and got some disseration work done today. I have done a few bits of programming on my crypto tool, and added some cool fading effects when you put the focus onto text input fields.
 
Just a bit random, anyway I am definitly letting my EVE subscription lapse on sunday. If I am going to have any hope of getting through the huge pile of work in between me and the end of the holidays I am going to need to reduce my distractions, and with EVE being at the top of the distraction list its got to go.
 
No fun for me (except maybe 360 stuff)

Appearently the Halo 3 beta is going to be coming on May 16th which is awsome, and even better it ends just before Mass Effect comes out.
 
Anyway I am trying to get some more coursework done today, but before I get stuck into that I think I might have some pies, beans and chips.

Well I am back in Swansea in an effort to try and actually get some work done. I am setup again but as always you have to fight the envitable lack of motivation that ensues from having a pile of work to do. 
 
In the mean time I have been having a blast playing EVE Online again, recently a little while ago I joined an alliance (similar to guilds in something like WoW only much bigger) and been having a great time. Only problem being is it is such a big distraction, I think I am going to cancel my subscription at the end of this week so that I can get some actual work done more easily. At least I will only have the 360 to distract me then….

Thats right, the impending doom that is results day is apon me once again. So here is the report:
 
62% : Computer Graphics
76% : High Performance Microprocessors
57% : Designing Algorithms
83% : Internet Computing
65% : Advanced Topics in Computer Science - Testing
 
So all in all not as bad as I feared it may be, and I am quite pleased as my predicted mark for the end of the course now works out to around 68-69% mark. 
 
This being only a couple of percent short of a first class degree is quite nice, and since I normally do better in the second set of exams I should (hopefully) be able to bring my average into the first class area. 
 
Anyway off to do some shopping, need to celebrate by purchasing a large apple pie.

I thought that this quote from the BBC have your say on the David Cameron cannabis debacle was particularly amusing, so I thought I would share it:
 
“Considering that cannabis causes memory loss, maybe Cameron DOES actually have some policies… he just can’t remember any of them.”

Ergh, I have been applying for a summer placement at IBM and to get onto the program you have to get past a number of stages. 
 
So far I have got past the initial screening of my application and grades. The next step is an aptitude test which I took over the weekend, and I am now waiting for the result. So at the moment I am a little frustrated because a friend of mine took the test before me and they got a result in about 10 minutes, but I have been waiting for a couple of days. 
 
I hope this is a good thing and not just because I took it at the weekend…..

It turns out that I am crazy go nuts for clementines; I bought a huge bag yesterday from tescos and I can’t stop eating them.

Well its been a little busy for the last two weeks, what with the ‘excitement’ of the exams and with the Waterfront going to print yesterday. 
 
The big news being that on monday we are going to have our biggest update so far, with a massive 70-80 articles being release at the same time. We are alse going to be adding a bunch of new features to the site (crosses fingers).
 
The exams all went not too bad in the end, although Graphics and Designing Algorithms were a little interesting, but both Internet Computing and High Performance Microprocessors.
 
Oh and the last good bit of information is that I am past the first stage in my application to IBM’s Extream Blue program, and have the pleasure of taking an aptitude test.
 
Anyway need to get back to implementing stuff for the waterfront site. Bye…
